Moscow, December 12, 2019 — Gazprombank, along with some technology companies and other banks, joined the Data Use Ethics Code. The signing ceremony for the agreement took place today within the framework of the opening panel of Russian Internet Week (RIW 2019).
The main idea of the Code is to create a body of principles and professional standards governing data use worked out by market participants themselves based on pre-existing practices and in due consideration of the interests of users and the state. The Code was drafted by the Institute of Internet Development and the Big Data Association.
“Gazprombank’s joining the Data Use Ethics Code marks an important step on the path towards increasing its security and the responsibility entailed by its use. There is a promising future for Big Data: we have invested significant time and resources in the development and application of Big Data and accumulated vast experience in this field. We are interested in spreading this experience to other companies and industries, because we view this process as mutually beneficial. The more companies use Big Data, the better we will understand each other’s needs and the more high-quality services we will be able to provide,” commented Dmitry Zauers, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board.
Gazprombank is actively developing Big Data storage infrastructure and improving the process of building machine-learning models and the resulting artificial intelligence. The use of these instruments has already generated positive results and improved the quality of the services provided by the Bank.
Aside from Gazprombank, the Code was joined by Sberbank, Gazprom-Media, Yandex, Megafon, Tinkoff Bank, oneFactor, QIWI, Mail.ru Group, VTB Group, VimpelCom, Rostelecom and MTS, as well as the Skolkovo Foundation and the Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation, which will soon become a Coordination Center of the Council for the Improvement of Data Use Practices.
