January 20, 2020, Moscow — Gazprombank has reported a sharp uptick in the rate of growth of its retail business in 2019. In particular, the Bank’s retail credit portfolio grew by 23% in 2019 to 566 billion rubles, while consumer loans were up 63% to 183 billion rubles, and mortgage lending expanded by 10% to over 380 billion rubles. New consumer loans grew by four times to 770 million rubles per day, or 150 billion rubles for the year as a whole, which was 76% up on 2018. Also last year, the Bank attracted 18% more retail deposits than in 2018, taking its retail deposit portfolio to 486 billion rubles.
In 2019, Gazprombank launched a number of innovative retail products. One such offering on the bank card market is its “Smart Card”, the key advantage of which is personalisation — the ability to adapt it to each customer individually. Cashback of up to 15% is paid automatically in the category — out of a total of nine — in which the client has spent most during the month. In October 2019, a new deposit product was added to the Gazprombank range: known as the Champion deposit, its unique feature is that interest for the entire period is transferred in a one-time payment on the first working day after the deposit account is opened. In addition, for the first time, customers are being offered a virtual bank card with no physical medium. This is the cobranded Autodrive Start virtual card for motorists — a joint product between Gazprombank and the Gazpromneft service station network. The bank card is issued via the partner’s mobile app. It can be added to a virtual wallet and presented as а means of payment when ordering fuel in the app, as well as being used for any other purchases.
To improve customer service, Gazprombank introduced courier delivery of debit and credit cards in 14 cities around Russia in 2019. For greater convenience, consumer loans can now be issued without the customer having to visit a branch and loans can be paid off via the mobile app. The Bank has also announced plans to open over 100 new branches throughout the country.
“Developing a modern and technological retail business is a strategic priority for Gazprombank, and its results for 2019 indicate that we are on the right path, achieving excellent financials, despite the general cooling of the retail bank services market and the tough competition. We are looking to the future with confidence, and in 2020 aim to dynamically grow our retail business and continue its technological transformation,” said
Dmitry Zauers, Deputy Chairman of Gazprombank’s Management Board.
“Over the past two years, Gazprombank has had a strong focus on actively developing its modern retail business and has already achieved outstanding results in this area, both through implementing a whole range of important technology projects and by launching unique products and services. We have confidence in our ability to take a leading position in this market, offering customers the highest quality of service and attractive innovative solutions,” said
Alexey Popovich, First Vice President and Member of Gazprom’s Management Board.
