Moscow, September 28, 2020 — Dmitry Zauers, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprombank Management Board, took part in the opening ceremony for the new office of the Russian Quantum Center in Skolkovo.
The research center, spanning a total area of 4,000 sq. m, is located on the second floor of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology. It already boasts 13 laboratories with cutting-edge equipment, as well as a unique nonmagnetic camera that can generate a thousand-fold weakening of external magnetic fields.
Seventeen scientific teams are conducting fundamental research in the field of quantum technologies. They consist of Russian and international scientists, as well as students and alumni of the RQC Department at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Aside from their academic activities, the employees have the opportunity to develop applied projects.
“Quantum technologies are a promising sector with the potential to change our world once and forever. We are thrilled to be the first major financial player to believe in quantum technologies and the team of young scientists at the Russian Quantum Center, and we are heartened to watch its dynamic development and achievements. Our investments in the RQC are long-term in nature, and it is a great example of how private capital can help achieve national and global development in the field of emerging technologies. As a bank that puts a premium on the intensive development of technologies, we have a vested interest in the RQC’s development — both in terms of the future application of quantum communications and cryptography and with a view to the further monetization of these technologies, since their market has only just started taking shape, and it boasts tremendous potential,” commented Dmitry Zauers, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprombank Management Board.
“The move is an accurate reflection of the change we have experienced in recent years: from a small scientific center, we have grown into a key expert in the Russian academic community and a noteworthy actor in the global arena,” shared Ruslan Yunusov, Head of the Project Office for Quantum Technologies at ROSATOM State Corporation.
