Vladivostok, September 2, 2021 – Gazprombank, the Strategy for the Future Foundation and the Government of the Republic of Buryatia agreed on cooperation and partnership in the implementation of a project involving the construction of schools in the region. The agreement to that effect was signed at the Eastern Economic Forum by Natalia Tretyak, First Vice President of Gazprombank, Stanislav Neverov, President of the Strategy for the Future Foundation, and Alexei Tsydenov, Head of the Republic of Buryatia.
The project envisions the construction of two general-education schools: one in Microdistrict 142 and the other on Klyuchevskaya Street near Secondary School No. 17 in the Oktyabrsky District of Ulan-Ude. Project implementation timeframe – 2022–2023. Planned scope of investments – RUB 2.5 bln. The parties plan to evaluate prospects for the project’s implementation, including with the use of concession agreements.
“Gazprombank boasts a wealth of experience and expertise in financing the creation of cutting-edge educational infrastructure in the Russian regions. We view the creation of favorable conditions for receiving a high-quality education anywhere in Russia as a critical task capable of facilitating both the advancement of society as a whole, as well as the achievement of sustainable development targets in our country, and we’re looking forward to proceeding with more active work in this direction,” commented Natalia Tretyak, First Vice President of Gazprombank.
“In November 2018, President Vladimir Putin signed an order on the reassignment of the Republic of Buryatia from the Siberian to the Far Eastern Federal District, thereby making it eligible for Far Eastern concessions. The support measures provided to the Far Eastern Federal District have stimulated the regional economy, but social infrastructure must still be bolstered. Unfortunately, in Ulan-Ude, a number of schools currently have pupils studying in the third shift, making the construction of schools a particularly important PPP project,” noted Stanislav Neverov, President of the Strategy for the Future Foundation.
“In Buryatia, thanks to federal support across a range of national projects, 16 schools have been built over the past four years, and the new schools are capable of accommodating more than 6,000 pupils per shift. Starting next year, the republic will be among the first regions in the country to start the next phase of cooperation in terms of eliminating the third shift at educational institutions – we’ll be building schools within the framework of public-private partnership. Just today, at the Eastern Economic Forum, we signed an agreement with the Strategy for the Future Foundation and Gazprombank on the construction of two schools in Ulan-Ude. In our republic, we’ll continue laying the groundwork for the development of our children in the best-possible conditions,” asserted Alexei Tsydenov, Head of the Republic of Buryatia.
