Gazprombank Takes Part in ECUMENE Discussion Club Round Table
13 June 2023

Moscow, June 13, 2023 — Gazprombank was featured in the round table on the priorities of developing cooperation between Russia and India in the field of sustainable development in the B2B sector. The event was held as part of the ECUMENE Discussion Club in preparation for the global financial forum of the same name that will take place on September 27–29 in Moscow.

Representatives of Russian and Indian businesses discussed their leading companies’ achievements in implementing environmental and social initiatives as well as their experience in introducing clean technologies. They also focused on the issues of new non-financial disclosure regulations in India and biodiversity conservation.

Gazprombank’s speakers included Ekaterina Salugina-Sorokovaya, First Vice President, and Vice President Evgeny Khilinskiy, Head of Sustainable Development Hub.

“As the Ecumene global financial forum approaches, we decided to hold a series of round table discussions together with our colleagues from Indian ESG Network, who kindly helped us organize them. Such meetings are very important for the representatives of the Russian and Indian business communities as they help identify what to focus on first in our cooperation and share best practices. The cooperation between our countries is actively developing, including on international platforms. But we can also see the market’s demand for bilateral discussions that facilitate direct dialogue between businesses, and are glad to support such initiatives,” noted Ekaterina Salugina-Sorokovaya.

Representatives of the largest Russian companies, India’s expert and business communities, as well as the founder of Indian ESG Network Vikrant Abrol, and Financial Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in India Mikhail Glazachev also took part in the event.

Vikrant Abrol said, “This roundtable was a platform for thought leaders from India and Russia to share insights, address challenges, and explore opportunities in the ESG space. We look forward to working with the Russian and Indian corporate and sustainability leaders and assisting in whatever way possible to create a beautiful planet that we can proudly hand over to our coming generations. We are thrilled by the active participation and the insights shared, and we hope to continue to facilitate such meaningful conversations in the future.”

The Global Financial Forum ECUMENE 2023 will be held for the third time on September 27–29 at GES-2 in Moscow with support from Gazprombank. This year’s business program has been developed following the round tables held throughout the year by the ECUMENE Discussion Club with the active participation of UN representatives, heads of federal and regional executive and legislative authorities in Russia, representatives of the science and business communities, the most significant social organizations and professional associations. More than 20 events on the most pressing ESG issues were held this year.
